1st ultrasound

So today was our first ultrasound and found out that we are only having one, no twins for us. We didn't get to listen to the heart beat but we did get to see it and it not only looked really good but it was beating really well. Our doctor said that she didn't even need to listen to it to know it was a really good heart just looking at it beating was enough. Below I have posted the ultrasound pictures from today.

There is our little one :)

2nd Christmas

So today we will have 2nd Christmas with my family as they head down from the snow and ice. We are going to my in-laws to meet then and have a yummy dinner. We also found out today that our friends Jamie and Preston are pregnant with their second and they just found out yesterday. I am so excited for them and also it's going to be so cool having one my friends pregnant with me as she is only 4 weeks behind me and will be due in September. It's so funny becuase it took us so long to get pregnant and know that we are I know nine pregnant girls either friends or co-workers it's so crazy. I know that we are all in different stages but it is still so neat. My friend Kristy at work is only a week behind me with her second, and now Jamie is 4 weeks behind me with her second. I think this is going to so awesome becuase we will all be able to talk to each other while we are going through this part of our lives.

First order

So today I ordered my first maternity outfit, a dress from old navy. I figured we have a lot going on in the beginning of next year and I wasn't quite sure if my nice clothes would fit me, and if I would have time to even go shopping. The dress is blue and sleeveless so I will need to find a nice sweater or jacket for January but it will be perfect for the wedding we have to go to in June. I was super excited to order it and it was on sale which made it even better.

I am excited that tomorrow is Christmas eve and then Christmas. We work half a day tomorrow and then have Christmas off. But I am even more excited for next Monday which is our first ultrasound.

If you want to see the dress here is the link: http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=5866&pid=635630&scid=635630032

Going on week eight

I didn't get to the computer that much this week due to not only "morning sickness" in the afternoon/evening but we had our Christmas party this weekend and so we were busy getting ready for that in between me not feeling very well.

I did get to go home early on Thursday, I was so nauseous that I was hunched over at my desk at work and my supervisor told me to go home so that was kind of nice as I got to lay down and take a nap. They really must introduce nap time to work. That night I felt kind of lazy I mean I didn't feel good but there was Adam and Liz cleaning and getting ready for the party while I just laid in bed. I know I know I didn't feel good so I should have been in bed but I still felt bad.

On Friday night we had our Christmas wine and cheese party it was a lot of fun we got hang out with some friends and got our first baby gifts a giant teddy bear and a cute sign for the nursery from Lesley and Andrew, and a babys'rus gift card from Stephanie and Kevin. It was great although another late night as Shannon passed out on our couch and we had to carry her to the car around 2 am. She is so getting teased about that on Monday at work. On Saturday we went to visit my grandmother in Marysville, originally everyone was supposed to go up to exchange gifts with her but my parents are snowed in and my in-laws dog Danny had to go into surgery this week and was coming home on Saturday so we skipped presents and just went up for lunch. I think she had a really good time. We had planned on making it home at a decent time but ended up stopping by our friend's Kristi and Gene's house to drop off some Christmas goodies and tell Kristi that I was pregnant (I think she was the last to know by mistake). So that turned into us over there for over an hour talking and playing with their son Zack.

Today we just get to rest and wrap Christmas presents. I did not get to my goal of walking last week do to being sick in the evening but if I feel better this week it is still my goal.

I need a weekend from my weekend

So the weekend was fun but really I need rest now. After the fun party on Friday at Jamie and Preston's we had some friends over Saturday night to go to dinner which was fun except that they stayed at our house until after 1:00 am. Normally I wouldn't care but I have started to get my "morning sickness" in the evening and by 11:00 pm I was ready to just lay down. After they left Adam and I finally got to bed and then five hours later we were up for our events on Sunday.

I had tea with some of my girlfriends and exchanged some books with them,we had a good time and going to formal tea is always a great idea. Then afterwards I ran over to my in-laws for their party which was also fun but I was so tried. I finally made it home around 7 pm and basically fell into bed. When the alarm went off this morning I did not want to get up, but off to work we went and now I having "morning sickness" again. I figure if I am going to get in the afternoon/evening that's better then in the morning and at least I can make it to work.

Fun filled weekend

So our holiday season has officially kicked off in full gear it started as a holiday party at Jamie and Preston's home on Friday night. It was so much fun and I got to see Mike, Debbie, and Jamie's friend Amy all who I have not seen in a long time. In addition to seeing old friends and meeting new ones, there were babies there which just put me so much into the mood for wanting our little one here now. After we left I told Adam that I couldn't wait for next year because then we would be able to bring our little one to play with the others.

The kids were so cute Ethan showed off and danced for us to Michael Jackson it was so cute. Jamie and Preston's friends Holly and Ryan brought their little girl Zoe, she is just precious, you just want to cuddle with her all night. I know I have said that I would be happy with either a boy or girl, but after I held Zoe for a few minutes I decided that I am just leaning a bit more towards a girl.

Tonight we have a dinner to go to with our friends Liz and Robert, Stephanie and Ryan. Then on Sunday we are skipping church (I know bad us) and I have tea with my friends Nicky and Amanda. After that my in-laws are having a holiday party and I will need to run over to there place to visit with their friends. So we still have a long holiday weekend ahead of us.

I think after this weekend is done I am going to want another one as we are not really going to have time to rest. Since we are not going out till 6 pm tonight I am focused on getting the house cleaned up and laundry done for the week, I am not quite sure when the grocery shopping is going to get done yet.

Week Six and going strong...

So this weekend started me off with two doctors appointments, both which were a waste of my time. The first was because they thought my blood pressure was high, but turns out that as long as I take the elevator instead of the stairs before they take my blood pressure it's perfectly fine and has been all my visits so far to the doctor except for the one to the ER but I don't count that one as I was at the ER which is stressful in addition to being sick.

The second appointment was for my asthma where my doctor said my lungs were fine and referred me to a asthma nurse (which I have not gotten a call from yet for an appointment). So both appointments were in some respect a waste of my time, I mean yes they confirmed that my asthma and blood pressure are ok, which is good, but really did I have to take all that time off work to figure this out.

Soon I guess the asthma nurse will call me to schedule an additional appointment, and then I have my first ultrasound on the 29th. So hopefully only two more appointments this month.

As far as symptoms go have been a little nauseous here and there but nothing major and usually it's because I have waited to long to eat, and still some random cramping but other then that if I had not even taken a pregnancy test I would not know I was even pregnant.

I am still reading my pregnancy books, and have been watching what I eat, how much I eat, when I eat, and what I weigh. Since I am over weight I am trying real hard to keep a balance of eating what sounds good, when I am hungry, and not to much. So far I have maintained my weight and slipped up and down a few pounds here and there as usual for me. My goal next week is to start incorporating exercise into my life at least a few times a week to keep my body healthy. They recommend walking so I figure that I can walk the dog 5 times a week for about 30 minutes and that should be really good for me, if I feel like I can do more I can go do light cardio at the gym.

So far good with this pregnancy I just to need to make sure I keep reading my books, eating enough, drinking enough water, taking my vitamins, and maintaining my weight plus a pound.

Goal next week: Starting a regular exercise program.

First ER visit

So is it fate that in the second week of knowing I am pregnant and after my first appointment, and my first week back to work after finding out that I find myself in the ER for my asthma. I didn't want to go to the ER but I has started the week with a small cold that messed with my asthma.

I have had asthma since I was born it seems so I am pretty good at managing it, however with the pregnancy I was unsure about how much of my proair I should be using, which was what the appointment on monday is for. I had planned on just making an appointment with my regular doctor on Thursday night, but after a long conversation with an advise nurse and the doctor at the call center they sent me to the ER.

I was rather annoyed with this as I felt like everything was fine, but because of the pregnancy Kasier was being extra careful which I understand but found still annoying. So off to the ER we went at 8:30 at night, checked in and a hundred dollars later (that's the amount of our co-pay) I had an ER doctor ask why I was even there and was told that my oxygen level was 100%.

They did hook me up for an asthma treatment and then set me home. We got home around 1 am on Friday. Got to love hospitals 4 hours for 30 minutes of treatment. They put me on a low dose of predisone for 5 days, which I was told would be fine for the baby.

I also missed work on Friday for which I was additionally annoyed because I had a lot to do, but four hours of sleep just was not going to cut it and I needed rest not just for me but for the little "it" as well. But I do now know I can take my proair every 4 hours as needed so at least I got some good info out of the experience even if it was a little more expenseive then necessary.

Week Five

So on November 23, 2008 I found out I was pregnant. I called Adam as he was at the store at the time and asked him to pick up so more tests as I didn't believe the one I had already taken. Sure enough every test I took came back positive. Kasier confirmed it on November 25, 2008 which is the same date that Adam and I had our first date on, and the same date that Adam propsed to me. I take that to mean that everything is going to work out great, in additon my due date is August 4, 2008, only 4 days before our wedding annivsary, now if I deliver past my due date on August 8 it's going to get a little creepy at that point. I had my first Kasier appointment yesterday which means I did the pile of paperwork and my lab tests. My mother-in-law said I should keep a diary about my pregnancy but I thought hey I will do one better and blog about it. Don't worry I am not going to be putting any gory details into this but it's will be a nice way to keep our friends and family updated about the new addition.

I do have some concerns though about this pregnancy as I admit I am overweight and when I went into my appointment yesterday they stated that my blood pressure is a little high. I have an appointment next monday to check that again and disucss my asthma, in additon my appointment for my first ultrasound is 12/29.

So far so good with my symtoms I was dizzy and light headed on my 2nd day of knowing I was pregnant and I have some slight cramping but that is it so far. I have already finished my first pregnancy book Healthy Pregnancy by the Mayo Clinic, which I do recommened it was really helpful and has some easy refernce sections.
