Induction

So I am not dilated at all at this point. On Monday 7/27 at 11:30 I have a check up to see if I am at that point. However on Thursday 7/30 at 9:00 pm I will be going into the hospital to start the induction process. They are going to start by putting tabs in me that night to stretch me on Thursday night and then they are going to start the pitocin on Friday morning. The doctor stated that it could be a 2-3 day process depending on how my body reacts. I will also be getting a epidural because the inductions make labor harder and sharper as they are forcing my body to do something that it's not ready for, the doctor agreed and was happy with my decision on that. So now we have a date and can make sure everything is ready before we go unless I start to dialate and he decides to come on his own.

Waiting...

So I am off work, the house is clean, and Thomas's room is ready to go so all we need is him. I have nothing left to distract me which truthfully I am supossed to be on bed rest so I guess nothing to distract me is a good thing, but still I am excited to see him. However I know they will induce on the 39th week if he doesn't come before then so my appointment next monday will be important but really I just want him to come now.

Birthing Class or not...ummm... not

So yesterday we were signed up for a birthing class however we signed up prior to me being put on bed rest. Until Saturday we fully intended to go but as we got up we realized that we just didn't want to. Truthfully Adam had been talking to some of the other girls at work who had just had babies and they stated it was all a waste of time, and I was thinking that it was 8 hours and I was supposed to be on bed rest so that didn't sound very good for me. So we didn't go and decided that we would just research the topics that they would have gone over online later on this week. Instead Adam and I finished shopping for Tom's room. It needed to be done and we really didn't have any other time to do it. So instead of being out of bed for 8 hours I was only out for 4 which sounds at lot better to me, and at the end of the 4 I was done. I realized that I would have never made it through 8 hours at the end of 4 I was so tired and hot, and didn't feel well. So home we came for a cold shower and some naps. So no we didn't go to the birthing class do I feel bad about that? No. We got the rest of the items we need, and now I can be a good girl and bed rest all day today.

babyshower's and bed rest

So truthfully I have been super tired everyday after work and didn't even get on the computer. So now time to update:

On June 13th I had my 1st baby shower and it was awesome. All of our good friends and family were there we had some yummy food and played some games it seems like everyone had a good time. We also got some great gifts that I am still going through, most of it is still in the garage.

The following week on June 18th Kendra threw me a work shower which was fun as well. I got to get away from my desk and have some really yummy cake with a few of Adam and mine work friends.

Over that week I had developed swollen feet thinking it was not that bad I waited until Monday to go in for an appointment. Which we discovered not only was my feet, hands, and nose swollen but my blood pressure was very high. I was rushed over to labor and delivery where I had to be monitored. My blood pressure never went down, so now I am on bed rest at home and off of work. I do have to go in every few days to be checked out and we will see where this will lead but for now I just get to stay home and watch t.v. You wouldn't think that this would be so bad but I already miss having people to talk to everyday and I think that only being able to sit or lay around is going to get boring real fast. But that's where I am now home and will be for quite some time.

Labor and Delivery

So on Monday night Adam and I went to our late pregnancy class and tour. The class was really informative and the tour was awesome, it was neat to see where we will be in a few weeks... or so I thought.

Yesterday I had a check up and Thomas was not moving to much so they rushed me over to labor and delivery to do a stress test. Needless to to say the only one now stressed out was me. Thomas was perfectly fine heart rate and oxygen was good. It was an interesting experience and not something I want to repeat any time soon. I thought he was just being quiet and sure enough once they gave me some apple juice he was as an active as he has ever been.

Sneaking In . . . .

Mwaahhaaa. . . I've managed to gain access to our blog, and I will show you all that my wife isn't the only one who can blog :-) That's so not true, what is the likelihood I'll blog on any regular basis . . . oh well, if you see red text, it's Adam, otherwise it's Lauren. . see it's an easy system to follow . . . . wow I've spent way too much time with the opening of this blog. . .

Anyway, so we got a new camcorder (THANK YOU VERY MUCH MOM & DAD :-*) and I can already envision myself as one of those idiot fathers who video tapes. . . EVERYTHING!!! So once I actually videotape something . . .we'll have video-blogs to come :-)

Day Cares

So I have been procrastinating and then some on one of the final things we need to get ready for Thomas.... child care. There are just so many and how do you know if one is better then the other or if that place is right for your child. We have decided to go with in home daycare instead of a center for one reason it's cheaper and second in my opinion your child gets more hands on time in a in home day care... well in most. I have heard some horror stories about some in home day cares where they just let the child sit and don't care for them but those are few and far between.

Again that bring's me back to the point of how do you know one home better then the other. I have two recommendations by friends for homes where their children were watched but the issue is that there is no guarantee that they will have rooms for babies in November when I have to go back to work.

So today I get to go online and try to find a few places that might work for Thomas so we can know where he is going after he is born.

The system is down...

So haven't been on in awhile you know why because computers suck that's why. The video card and motherboard went on our old computer and it's taken us weeks to figure out what to do we now have a temporary substitute computer which is very slow and I mean slow I could have taken a nap in the amount of time it took to log me onto the computer. But hey it was free and it works so really can't complain. But that's where I have been and now I am back :)

Monterey and Birthdays

So last weekend Adam surprised me for my birthday present with a trip to Monterey. It was so much fun we got to walk around cannery row, see the aquarium, and just sit and watch the ocean. It's so relaxing there I wish we could go out there more often it's my favorite place to visit. It was a wonderful birthday present.

During this week it was my birthday on Wednesday so my supervisor at work decorated my desk and made me cupcakes. That night Adam, Liz, and I went out to dinner. Tonight we are going out with some of friends to Buca for some fun.

I've had better weeks

So last week was a week that pretty much meant no sleep for Adam and I due to one thing or another. But let me first go back to Saturday April 4th when we registered for the baby stuff at Target and Babies r us. At Babies r us we had found the bed room set that we wanted the crib and changing table months ago when we went in just to look around and see what they had. Last Saturday after we had registered we had decided to buy them both with the mattress. But we found out that they were discontinuing the crib we wanted, after a long discussion with a supervisor at Babies r us about how we could get the set we wanted she told us that the last shipment was coming in on April 11th. We decided that this was fine it was only one week more and we could pick it up then.

Now fast forward through the week and the issues that resulted in our lack of sleep:
Monday night - Adam sick from dinner
Tuesday night - Adam went to the kings game with my mother-in-law and came home late which resulted in me pretty much being up or only napping until he got home
Wednesday night - CATS!! and no not my adorable two cats but the six or more stray cats that are in heat and decide that our front yard is the best place to try to find a mate by yelling all night long.
Thursday night - Adam got home late from work and we did not even get dinner until 9, then I was sick from dinner.

Now Friday night was the final straw we were both exhausted from the work week which was difficult for both of us and we both had very little sleep. I called Babies r us to find out when the shipment was coming in to find out that the shipment had already come in and not only had no one called us to tell us like they said they would but they had sold all of the crib's. So I this point I was cranky and I was pissed the girl in charge of the furniture department stated that she would try to get a store to store transfer for us. I had called while I was at work so I waited and waited for a call back. I got home from work and was about to call again when my cell phone rang and it was her stating that the didn't sell the last one as the guy who came in for it stated it was the wrong one that they wanted.

So back to Folsom Adam and I went to get the crib and mattress. The changing table had to be ordered as they didn't have any in but at this point I didn't even care. Then when we got to babies r us we found out that the parts to convert the crib into a full size bed could not be ordered anymore and the only store that had them was in Dublin and they didn't want to do a store to store transfer. At this point I was done just done I just didn't care anymore, it was 7:00 at night on Friday after a bad week, I was tired and hungry and just wanted to go home. We grabbed the crib and mattress, ordered the changing table and headed over to my in-laws to store everything there.

At 8 at night we finally got settled with everything but dinner we tried 3 different places for dinner first Chinese they were almost out of food, then Mc Donalds by my in-laws they had a huge line, then the Mc Donalds by us finally success at dinner. We were home by 8:45 and finally got to eat and go to bed or so we thought of course the cats were back and all night long they were howling and then our dog would bark and we would get everything settled just go back to sleep and everything would start over again. Really I was ready to kill some cats at this point and I am a cat lover we have two cats ourselves and they are our spoiled furry children. But I am done with these cats I contacted the animal shelter the first thing Saturday morning and found out that if we rent a cat trap we can bring them in. So Saturday morning on the way to my parents to celebrate Easter we rented a cat trap and starting tomorrow while we are at work we will start to trap cats and take them to the animal shelter this will hopefully not only gain us more sleep but prevent us from have tons of stray kittens later on.

Saturday was fun we hung out with our family at my parents house for Easter and then got home late of course as it was the theme of the week. But the good news for Saturday night was that there were no cats and we were finally able to get a good nights sleep.

Easter was Sunday and Adam and I celebrated by sleeping in and doing chores around the house that needed to get done. Next year will be more exciting because we will have Tom by then.

Registering.....

So yesterday Adam and I went out to Target and Babies r us and tried to figure out what we would need for Tom. I think we did pretty well although today I am going to log on and make sure we aren't missing anything that I didn't think of at the time.

We also found out that the are going to change the style of the crib we both wanted. Babies r us stated that they are supposed to get a new shipment in on the 11th so as soon as we get that call we are off to buy the crib before it's to late.

Ultrasound photos - It's a boy

Here are the ultrasound photos:

Went to work and they sent me home

So some of you know that I have had broncitis and have been home sick from work for quite some time. My doctors note has me off till this Thursday but I felt a lot better today so I tried to go to work and they sent me home. Apparently you need a release to come back to work early from a doctors note to have to stay home sick. Who knew? I sure didn't, so I am back home and of course my doctor is out today so I can't get a note to go back to work till at least tomorrow. I just thought it was kind of funny I tried to go to work and got sent home.

Time to update

I know I know for those of my friends that actually read this I have been bad. So here is the news so far my pregnancy has been going very well with no big issues other then being tired. Work has been hectic as work always is.

We recently got back from vacation at Disneyland which was tons of fun even though I couldn't ride all the rides. Well let me rephrase that it was fun until Wednesday when Adam came down with the flu which involved me finding the Kaiser in Santa Ana so he could been seen when it became apparent that he could keep nothing down and his fever was getting worse. So if you ever need to know where the Kaiser is in Santa Ana I now know. We also stayed an extra day so Adam could rest up for the drive back home. On Thursday I had started not to feel well with body aches so my wonderful mother-in-law Marilyn got to drive our new car home with all us sick people in the back. I got progressively worse over the new few days and after a few phone calls with the advise nurses at Kaiser and a few doctors appointments it was determined that I have bronchitis. So after being off of work for a week for vacation I have also now been off of work for a week getting better. According to my doctor yesterday I have about 4-5 more days before I am totally better and I can't wait.

In other news our company Mercury Insurance went through a round a layoffs last Monday which Adam and I both survived. We were very happy as most of our good friends at work made it as well as we worried about everyone especially our friend Preston as he and Jamie are expecting their second child a few weeks after us. We were told that this will be the only round of layoffs so we should be ok for the long haul.

And now the news everyone is waiting for.....We are having a boy! I had my ultrasound yesterday and everything looked really good they did move my due date one whole day to the 6th of August but I am not to worried about it babies never come on time anyways. So he will be Thomas Harvey Hurst (Tom for short). Now that we know the sex we can start buying cute cloths :) Adam took the ultrasound photos to work today with him so once he brings them back I will post them on the blog.

Very busy and very bad at posting

I knew that the time would come where I would not post as much due to just stuff going on in our lives but I had hoped that it would come later on :)

Lets see what has been going on... My morning sickness has passed and although I still get a twinge every once in a while about things I am eating everything is pretty good. I have not gained any weight so far and I am at 15 weeks but as long as the doctor does not say anything about that I am not going to worry.

I had a migraine last week and went to the obgyn they gave me some medicine I can take while pregnant if another one creeps up again and I got to hear the heartbeat while I was there. I am finally starting to show a little instead of just looking fat and have moved into maternity cloths although they are still a little big on me. My old clothes really don't fit anymore and I would rather be comfortable then not.

In a few weeks we are going to Disneyland for vacation and then on March 18 we have the big ultrasound when we get to find out the sex. My husband has already borrowed a pink and blue tie from our friend Preston so he can wear it the day after we find out and he is going to bring in doughnuts for his branch that day at work. I think that is it for now I have just been working and relaxing and really nothing new to post.

2nd ultrasound

So today was a doctors appointment. I got to hear the heartbeat and got 2 more ultrasound pictures. The heartbeat was really good, nice and strong. I am posting the 2 pictures. I would write more but I am super tired today and really don't feel like it.

I HATE missing work

So for some reason my body has decided that since my morning sickness has pretty much consisted of being nauseous in the evening for the first 10 weeks that on the 11th week when I am almost at 12 and almost done with the 1st trimester that this is week we are going to try something new and make me really really sick in the mornings with nauseousness all day long.

So on Tuesday afternoon this started, I didn't sleep all Tuesday night and then on Wednesday I missed work. Went back on Thursday even though I felt the same because as the title of this blog states I hate to miss work, and I really do because really there is just to much work to do and missing anytime just stresses me out even more trying to catch up.

Thursday afternoon I started to get a horrible headache on top of feeling sick and that continued all night and into Friday all day long. The thing is that I get these headaches all the time but when I am not pregnant I can take medication for it, now I can't which just makes it harder to get rid off. I tried Tylenol but since I was sick it didn't stay down, so I missed work on Friday which I was so pissed about.

On top of not feeling good we were having new carpet put in on Friday so I couldn't get to anything, and I was stuck in the kitchen all day feeling like crap. However as today is Saturday, I have to say anything I have eaten has stayed down and my headache although still here is much better. So maybe this will all end this weekend and I hope so since I really don't want to miss anymore work.

Home from work

So cold number two turned into a sinus issue and I got to stay home for work today which almost feels like when you were in school and got to stay home. I am really happy with Kaiser and the advise nurses they were able to give me two medications that I can take for the cold that are o.k. for the baby and made me feel much better. But it will be back to work tomorrow even so it was nice to rest today and get better.

Cold number two

So I am on my second cold of my pregnancy. This is due I am sure to working in a office in which when one person is sick everyone else gets sick and my low immune system from being pregnant. Also I know that Ricki (who is also pregnant) was sick before new years and Nicole (who is also pregnant) was sick with me yesterday at work, and yes I did have to go to work sick yesterday because if I didn't I wouldn't get paid for New Years day. I am just glad it's just a cold, one of my co-workers Keri came to work on New Years eve with a 102 fever, the flu, and bronchitis, and she sits behind me. So I was not that thrilled with that, but if all I get is a cold and none of that stuff I am happy with that. The only thing that sucks is that you can not take that much for colds when you are pregnant but I did go to Target yesterday and buy a humidifier which did help last night. Oh well back to bed for me with lots of yummy fluids.
